Stephanie Lockhart,
Master of Counselling Psychology, Athabasca University, 2024. CCPA # 11247512
With a Master's in Counselling Psychology, Stephanie devotes much of her time to equine-assisted psychotherapy. This program is near and dear to her heart as she watches the magic of the horse provide the support and guidance the clients seek. Clients often do not know or deny what they are after; however, the horses always seem to know what the client genuinely needs and provide the lessons that support positive change specifically for the client.
Although Stephanie devotes much of her time and energy to providing equine-assisted psychotherapies, she also provides services unrelated to this field. Stephanie works with kids of all ages, including those with behavioural issues. Thanks to her extensive background in parenting styles, she knows how to deal with the more complex situations that arise with children. She takes a person-centred, reality therapy/choice theory stance, emphasizing attachment styles, mindfulness practices, and emotionally focused therapy.
During her free time, Stephanie enjoys the great outdoors with her horses, dogs, and goats. She has two children who keep her and her partner busy running to sports and competitions. When she is not a sports mom, she is often found working cattle and enjoying the quiet of the cowboy life, which takes up much of her time in the saddle while she helps on the family ranch. Stephanie is the person who pauses to enjoy the scenery and smell the roses. Oftentimes, Stephanie will comment that we exist in a fast-paced, chaotic world. This realization has inspired her to value the present more highly by encouraging her to take things leisurely.
